I moved to Alaska six years ago from the opposite side of the country. I grew up in New Hampshire, and at the time I could not fully explain why I felt called to Alaska. I simply sensed God telling me, “This is where you need to be.” So I packed up what I had and moved 3,332 miles from home, by myself, without knowing a single person here. Six years later, I have no plans of ever leaving. I met my husband, an Alaska Native, while attending Alaska Bible College, and our very different backgrounds have become part of our story together.

I grew up going to camp as a kid and eventually served as summer staff through high school and part of college. I knew from a young age that camp ministry was my calling. I wanted to grow stronger in the Lord while making an impact on those around me, but the right opportunity never seemed to come along, until one opened up at Camp Maranatha. The moment I visited the camp and met the directors, I knew this was where I needed to be.

I now serve as a year round staff member. This summer you will mostly find me making coffee in the Snack Shack or helping out at the waterfront. In the winter I will be assisting with administrative work in the camp office.
